Bush Hager brought up why she does not like the label "mom friends"

Jenna Bush Hager has mom friends, but prefers not to label them as such.

The topic of conversation came up on the Friday, July 11, episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, during which the talk show host, 43, and guest host Dwyane Wade, 43, discussed their friends who have kids.

"Some of my best ‘mom friends’ — which I sort of hate that term because it implies they’re not my true friends — but some of my best mom friends are from the time I had my 12-year-old," said Bush Hager, referring to her daughter Mila.

Bush Hager said that when she had her first child, she was in a "baby group" with some mom friends, including someone who she considers "one of my best friends in the world."

"Now we have pre-teens, and so to go through every stage of life together? I think it is necessary to have that community," she explained.

Wade, who is a father of five, agreed with Bush Hager.

"Especially for your kids. Once they get their friends, these playdates [are] big in the world now, obviously, right? So you have to have a relationship with their parents," he said.

"One, for them to allow their kids to come over or vice versa, but also two, if their parents are going to come over, [you got to get along]," the former basketball star continued.

As for who will sit next to Bush Hager permanently after Hoda Kotb's departure, Bush Hager told PEOPLE last month that there is no rush to find her replacement.

"We're still searching. We definitely want somebody permanent at some point just because that's our show, and I think the Today show is such a family," she said.

"So to have somebody sit in that seat means a lot to all of us. So it will happen. I think we've all just been kind of living day by day and we don't have any developments yet, but we will," Bush Hager continued.
