Katy Perry nearly fell from mid-air during a live performance in Australia.
The pop superstar, 40, who is on her Lifetimes Tour, handled an equipment malfunction like a pro while performing at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Sunday, June 29.
Fan footage shared on X shows the musician preparing to be lifted over the audience inside a metallic sphere by holding onto some cables.

After the handlers let go of the prop, a drum begins to play, and the sphere begins to rise, only to suddenly tilt to one side, and Perry appears to lose her footing. She quickly recovers by gripping the cables as the sphere, still tilted, begins swinging.
A few seconds pass, and the handlers approach the sphere, which has now been lowered. The crew turns it slowly, causing cheers to erupt from the crowd.
The tour, which is in support of Perry's sixth studio album 143, is one that the singer said would be a "huge Disneyland-on-wheels type tour."

"There's costume changes, there's acts, there's dancers, there's musicians. I'll fly around the room. There's no bad seat in the house. I'm going to get close to everyone at some point," Perry told PEOPLE in January.
It hasn't been completely easy, however. While the back-to-back shows caused Perry to be absent from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding in Venice this past weekend, the performer had another memorable tour moment.
A day after the equipment malfunction, the "Woman's World" singer appeared to get emotional near the end of her show as she stood onstage with her arms raised above her head while making a heart shape with her hands.
"Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world," said Perry in a clip posted on X from her Monday, June 30, performance. Perry then gathered herself as she said, "Now let's sing 'Firework!' "

The show moment comes amid news that Perry and Orlando Bloom, with whom she got engaged in 2019, have called it quits. The former couple share daughter Daisy Dove, 4½.
A source recently told PEOPLE that Perry "never saw herself as a single mom."

"She's felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It's been a lot for her. She's still doing great, though," said the source.
