Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has cemented his name as one of television’s most beloved child stars thanks to his role as the genius Sheldon Cooper.

The CBS sitcom didn't just capture the hearts of the audience through its heartfelt and witty storytelling, but also how the Georgia native actor gave life to the charming and uniquely brilliant character.

From witty charm to heartfelt moments, Armitage’s interpretation proves that this popular role is truly unforgettable.

His star power was felt once again when the teen star recently shared a photo on Instagram to celebrate his 17th birthday.

In his post, he thanked his followers and fans for their warm greetings and birthday wishes.

“It’s been a great few days- thanks, everyone! 17 is wonderful so far,” he wrote, along with an adorable photo of him smiling with a birthday candle in front of him.

In the comments, the internet couldn't help but call him by his character, a reminder of how far he’s come since first stepping into the iconic character’s shoes.

Fans called him “Shelly,” an endearing term used by Sheldon Cooper’s mom, played by Zoe Perry.

“Happy Birthday, Iain. Shelii,” one wrote.

“Enjoy yourself, Shelly! HBD,” a follower added.

“Happy Birthday, Shelly!” another note.

The same goes for another commenter who said, “Cakes and candles, Shelly.”

Adding to the nostalgia, one fan affectionately referred to Armitage as “Moonpie,” the endearing nickname given to Sheldon by his grandmother Meemaw, portrayed by Annie Potts.

“Again, happy birthday, Mr. Moonpie,” a commenter noted.

Young Sheldon, a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, depicts the early life of Sheldon Cooper, who grew up in a simple but happy family in Medford, East Texas

At the time of its production, Armitage started filming when he was nine years old, similar to his on-screen character.
