Chad Michael Murray's entire family was involved when it came to deciding on expanding their family.

While speaking with Parade about his upcoming film Freakier Friday, the One Tree Hill alum, 43, who shares his son and two daughters with wife Sarah Roemer, also revealed how his family decided to add a third baby to the mix.

“We took a family vote, actually. We weren't going to have a third child unless everyone was on board, including the kids. And our son wasn't on board for pretty much the entire time until finally, one day, he goes, ‘I'd like to have a baby in the family,' " he told the outlet. "And we're like, ‘Wow, look at that!' And he's the best with her. He's so good all the time with her, and they love each other so much. So that is their norm.”

In January 2015, Murray announced his marriage to fellow actor Roemer. Additionally, the pair confirmed that they were expecting their first child together, a son who was born later that year. Since then, they’ve added two more kids to their family, a daughter born in 2017 and a second daughter welcomed in 2023.

Before the birth of his older daughter, Murray told Entertainment Tonight that having a family “just changes your perspective on everything.”

He explained, “It was the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. I mean, having kids is just, it’s a game changer. I think you’re always walking around with the mentality that you want to make sure that they’re proud and represent them well. Just be a great leader.”

The Merry Gentleman star spoke with Interview Magazine and was asked whether he wants his three kids to follow in his footsteps and become actors.

"I’m 99.99999%, my daughter will be following suit, quite soon. And then I would say, my son, that’s not something he wants to do," Murray shared.

"And the new one, she’s only 15 months. We’ll let her figure it out," he said, laughing. "But would I be supportive? One hundred percent."

Murray added that he would've loved to have that kind of support when he was first starting out in Hollywood.

"I wish that I had a kindred spirit over my shoulder to guide me and help me when I first came in," Murray explained. "It’s not that I want to be a no person for my daughter, but I want to be able to at least pave the road and say, 'Hey, here’s the consequences to action A, B, C, and D. This is how you conduct yourself on a set. I want you to be over-prepared so that no matter what comes your way, you’re ready for it.'"

In November, while speaking with Variety, the actor opened up about his life as a dad, sharing that he calls his family of five "The Pack," a fitting title as he explains that the crew travels together to every gig Murray books.

“I want to be there," the dad of three explained, referring to being present in his children's lives. "I got to be there for my daughter’s first steps. I got to take her trick or treating for the first time."

“And she crushed it!” he added.
